It'll be a Hoot!

This Sunday, October 30th from 1-4 will be Kid's Camp at Paper Crown. This month we will be combining autumn and Halloween to create an oval mixed media canvas. This owl will be a hoot. A little painting, a little collaging and a whole lot of fun. Call Paper Crown to reserve your kiddos spot, 848-2389. All campers must have completed the 1st grade.

Fun with Miss Heather


Fun times ahead girls! It seemed such a long time away when we scheduled Heather's classes but time flies and one of our favorite girls south of the Red River will be here next week- Yippee!

Heather will be teaching two classes on Saturday, October 29th. A basic soldering class for those of you that want to get started and an advanced class for those of you who have completed her basic class. You will be able to take both, however, you will need to order your own equipment for the banner class. The store has the website so you can order and have it by next Saturday.

I love it when I can make people happy and I know I just made quite a few people’s day!  This class will be a basic introductory class where you’ll learn the very basics of soldering (tools, supplies, and basic jewelry charm soldering) and get to try your hand at creating at least two pendant style charms.  All supplies for this class are provided – including art for your charms.  Class size is limited to 6 so don't hesitate- you will be sorry!

Do you ever have those moments when your family is driving you bonkers? When your "friends" feel like your biggest foe? When you're at the park, and someone is trying to small talk your child? It's in those very moments that I need a reminder to shine. Shine through the adversity and challenges and meet them head on! So with that in mind, I designed and created this sweet banner to display and remind me to meet those challenges head on.






In this quick paced class you'll create a create a large 5 lettered soldered bunting banner, using a 5 letter word that is special to you. The glass we'll be using has been custom hand cut and finished especially for this class. Additional glass will be available for purchase if you would like to create a longer word. This class is geared towards participants who have previous soldering experience and know how to wrap, solder, and attach jump rings.


In addition to a soldering station (tile, iron, stand, solder, flux & brush, clothespins/clamps, sponge, burnisher, hemostat & glass cleaner), students will need to bring the following supplies with them: hand towel, paper cutter, scissors, pencil, glitter glue, flat nosed jewelry pliers. Feel free to bring any small jewelry bits and baubles also to customize your banner! Please come prepared with what word you would like to use, as we'll be cutting them during class.


Heather will also be here for Glitter Market on November 19th and has graciously agreed to teach another beginner soldering class on Friday, Nov. 18th from 1-3pm and an advanced soldering crown class also on the 18th from 3-6 pm.  What a trooper!

my wish




Lately I've been asked several times what I wish for. Funny it used to be so easy. When I was little it was a new Barbie, then a polo, an add a bead necklace, or the past few years, probably something for the house. Never had much problem coming up with something, actually it was probably the opposite- wanting way too much. This year has been different. Maybe it's because this is my first birthday without a parent or grandparent. It could also be that is is my 47th b-day; the age my mom was first diagnosised with breast cancer. Maybe I'm just finally growing up. All that stuff that I used to want is just that- stuff- and at times it gives me a bigger headache than joy. A quick side note, I haven't totally gone granola, believe me I still go crazy when I walk in Anthrolopogie (Austin refers to it as my crack house) and the Wood Garden can make me lust but I just don't Need it like I used to, or a least thought I did. Whatever the case, my wish has been forefront on my mind lately.

As many of you know, a few weeks ago we were lucky enough to have KC Willis come teach for a few days at the store. She is a wonderful mixed media artist who gave us 3 days of pure pleasure. In addition to being a talented artist, KC is just such an interesting and passionate person. In her classes she shared with us about her second love, the people of Pine Ridge reservation in SD.

On KC's last night in OKC we went to dinner and she shared with me how she found Pine Ridge. It was a series of events, or actually in her case, books, that lead her from one author and their experience to another. If you have ever had a series of events in your life that looking back you have no other explanation for how they came together other than God's providence, you understand. KC had such an interest in one author's experience at Pine Ridge that she began to look into it herself. Like many passions, it started small and has grown to a consuming fire.

I was surprised that KC had a passion for a group of people and children that she had never actually met. That night after dinner I asked her if she would like to put a face with her cause. That night KC meet J and L. As some of you know, my closest friends have been caring for two foster kiddos for about a year. Both boys are Native American and from the same tribe as those at Pine Ridge.  I have helped with the boys some over the past year and to say I have become attached is an understatement. So you see, KC's stories of the reservation struck a cord that was very close to my heart- the spark was flickering.

Their meeting was a grand finale to a series of  "God things." As we pulled up to the house, L dressed for bed was in the car getting his backpack. I told him I had a friend I wanted him to meet and instead of shly walking over, he ran to KC's knees and gave her a bear hug that can only be done by 5 yr old boys. He then gave her a big grin and a happy "hi." It was dark but I'm pretty sure KC was crying and I know I was. KC now had a face to put with her mission at least until her arrival today at the reservation.

Today KC is making her first trip to the reservation. She has her car loaded up with clothes, supplies and the necessities of life to try and be of some help. KC described life on the reservation as very, very hard and very isolated. We always send our children out of the country on mission trips when in fact, some of the conditions in our own country, just a day's drive away, are worse than those of a third world country.

I have decided to start a coat drive for the people of Pine Ridge. For every gently used coat, glove,mitten, or  hat donated, I will enter your name in a drawing for a $100 Paper Crown gift certificate. We will gather donations until November when KC is scheduled to make a second visit to the resrvation.  This is a cause that is very dear to my heart and I hope you will join me. 

I guess one of my wishes is that we can somehow make a difference in these kids lives and it takes an entire day's worth of profits to pay for the shipping of all the coats we gather. I noticed this am that ABC news is doing a special on Friday evening entitled "Children of the Plains" and it appears to be about life in a reservation. I think it's another "God thing."



This is J. He is the Thanksgiving baby and I love this little guy like he was my own. My second wish is that he will be able to be adopted by my friends. Because of J's background,  a normal adoption is not possible. The decision will be made soon and it is our hope that the tribe will find favor with J's current situation and Bubbie will be able to remain in OKC and be adopted by a very special family that has already shown him so much selfless and unconditional love.

Those are my two wishes so say a little prayer please and get to cleaning those closets : )

Overwhelmed



I think my word for the day is overwhelmed. At least that's how I'm feeling at the moment. So many boxes to open and I really don't want to check any of it in. Feel like just digging in,  throwing stuff around and going on to the next. Basically I'm acting like a 3 yr old at Christmas. 

Who would have thought so much could come in two days. What I have unpacked...

I love these 3 new Crate Paper lines- Farmhouse, Random and Peppermint. You will want all three I'm pretty sure.    



A new shipment came late Friday; I think it's one of the prettiest so far. Gotta love these- no tagging just throw them in the jar and watch them fly. Katie sold over 100 yesterday but never fear, 900 are still let!

Analisis Sikap dan Perilaku Konsumen terhadap Produk Mie Instan *

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sikap dan perilaku konsumen mie
instan, dan mengetahui bobot relative dari attribut yang mempengaruhinya.
Selain itu dalam penelitian ini dilakukan analisis brand awareness dan brand
switching terhadap merek mie instan yang beredar di pasaran.
Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari 200 responden di wilayah
Jakarta Selatan. Analisis statistik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi
analisis deskriptif, analisis faktor, analisa korelasi spearman, analisis korelasi
Mann-Whitney. Sedangkan untuk mengukur sikap dan perilaku digunakan
model multi attribut fishbein , norma subjektif dan Teori Tindakan Beralasan/
theory of reasoned action.
Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan profil responden sebagai berikut sebanyak 162
orang (81%) berusia 19-45 tahun, dan mayoritas adalah pria (58%) dan berprofesi
sebagai pegawai swasta (36.5%), 56.5% responden berpenghasilan rata-rata
perbulan berkisar dari Rp. 500.000 – Rp. 2.000.000, berpendidikan berpendidikan
SMA/sederajat ke atas sebanyak 79%.
Hasil dari analisa sikap fishbein adalah sebagai berikut attribut evaluasi yang
paling penting adalah banyaknya variasi rasa sebesar 2.57, kemudian harga,
kecepatan dan kepraktisan dalam penyajian, kehalalan serta kemudahan dengan
skor masing masing sebesar 2.54, 2.48 dan 2.46. Nilai evaluasi terkecil diberikan
pada atribut kemasan sebesar 1.58. Hal ini menggambarkan bahwa responden
menganggap attribut kemasan kurang penting dibandingkan atribut lainnya.
Meskipun demikian skor tersebut masih dalam katagori penting.
Untuk merek Indomie responden memberikan skor kepercayaan tertinggi pada
banyaknya variasi rasa sebesar 6.27, dan kemudahan mendapatkan produk
sebesar 6.04. Untuk nilai terendah diberikan responden pada atribut harga dan
porsi mie instan sebesar 5.12 dan 5.45. Sebagai market leader Indofood
memberikan harga premium dibanding pesaingnya, sedangkan untuk porsi
memang lebih kecil (hanya 80 gr) dengan tujuan mendapatkan laba yang lebih
besar. Nilai rata-rata skor sikap adalah 114.41 yang berarti sikap responden
terhadap indomie adalah sangat baik.
Nilai rata-rata kepercayaan untuk Mie Sedap berada pada rentang 4.61 – 5.80
yang menggambarkan umumnya responden setuju bahwa Mie Sedap
mempunyai atribut yang dievaluasi. Skor tertinggi sebesar 5.57 untuk atribut
cepat dan praktis dalam penyajian, sedang untuk jumlah porsi dan kemudahan
mendapatkan nilai skornya adalah 5.49. Strategi perusahaan untuk menyaingi
Indofood, dengan jalan memposisikan sebagai produk yang kualitas samaii
dengan harga yang lebih murah (nilai kepercayaan harga lebih tinggi dari merek
Indomie) dan porsi yang lebih berat (90 gr). Skor total sebesar 103.80 menjadikan
mie sedap menjadi peringkat kedua setelah Indomie dengan katagori baik.
Urutan ketiga dalam skor sikap adalah Alhami, produk yang membawa isu
masalah kehalalan produk justru dinilai oleh responden paling rendah, skor
halal untuk merek ini hanya 5.22 dibandingkan dengan Gaga mie sebesar 5.30
terlebih jika dibandingkan dengan Mie Sedap (5.47) atau Indomie (5.90). Skor
kepercayaan secara keseluruhan berada di bawah produk Mie Sedap. Total skor
sikap untuk Alhami sebesar 92.19 dengan katagori baik. Sedangkan skor
penilaian terkecil adalah untuk Gaga Mie, namun jika dibandingkan dengan
Alhami produk ini hanya terpaut sedikit saja, sehingga ada beberapa aspek yang
dianggap oleh responden lebih baik dari Alhami, misalnya untuk porsi yang
lebih banyak serta nilai gizi yang dikandungnya. Skor secara keseluruhan masih
dalam katagori baik yaitu sebesar 92.28.
Analisa norma subjektif menyimpulkan faktor ekstenal yang mempengaruhi
pembelian mie instan adalah petugas promosi. Hal ini dapat disikapi oleh
perusahaan dengan memberikan penekanan pada promosi produk, baik melalui
promosi above line misalnya melalui media TV atau Radio.
Analisa Teori Tindakan Beralasan digunakan untuk menguji apakah sikap
responden berhubungan kuat dengan perilaku pembeliannya. Hasilnya untuk
merek mie yang dianalisa yaitu Indomie, Mie Sedap ,Alhami , dan Gagamie
adalah keempat merek yang dianalisa mempunyai nilai B ~ BI positip (lebih
besar dari nol) maka perilaku konsumen untuk merek tersebut di atas adalah
baik atau positif. Indomie mempunyai nilai terbesar yaitu 76.65 dibandingkan
nilai merek lain menggambarkan sikap konsumen cenderung untuk melakukan
pembelian terhadap Indomie lebih besar.
Dari analisa sikap dan perilaku fishbein, sebagai leader strategi produk yang
diambil adalah dengan menjaga nilai kepercayaan untuk attribut yang paling
dipentingkan oleh responden tetap tinggi, sebagai penantang strategi produk
yang diambil adalah mencari kelemahan dari leader yaitu untuk atribut
ukuran/porsi, dengan jalan memproduksi mie yang lebih besar ukurannya dari
produk leader. Sedangkan sebagai pengikut berusaha untuk meningkatkan
kepecayaan responden untuk atribut produk yang dievaluasi, yaitu dengan
meniru/menyamai produk leader. Strategi harga yang diambil oleh market
leader adalah dengan memimpin dalam hal perubahan harga dengan
menerapkan harga yang tidak berbeda jauh dengan penantangnya, untuk
penantang sebagai penantang strategi yang diambil adalah tetap melakukan
effisiensi biaya (cost leadership), diantaranya dapat dilakukan dengan
mendesain harga pokok penjualan (HPP) yang lebih rendah dibanding market
leader. Dan sebagai pengikut harus menurunkan harga sehingga dapat bersaing
merebut pangsa konsumen yang masih sensitive terhadap harga. Sebagai leader
strategi promosi yang diambil adalah dengan mempertahankan dan
meningkatkan intensitas promosi melalui iklan televisi, sebagai penantang
strategi yang diambil adalah menantang melalui iklan media televisi daniii
promosi penjualan seperti pemberian hadiah. Dan sebagai pengikut adalah
meniru cara berpromosi market leader. Sebagai leader strategi distribusi yang
diambil dengan konsenstrasi dan konsilidasi pada jalur distribusi dengan sudah
dikuasai, sebagai penantang strategi yang diambil adalah dengan memperluas
jalur distribusi yang ada secara terus menerus, dan sebagai pengikut strategi
yang diambil dengan cara konsenstrasi pada daerah yang kurang diminati
pemimpin pasar.
Penelitian mempunyai kelemahan karena tidak menganalisa semua merek,
untuk memperbaikinya maka disarankan untuk menganalisa semua merek mie
instan yang beredar dan memperluas wilayah penelitian.

KONSEP PERILAKU KONSUMEN


Pengertian perilaku konsumen menurut Shiffman dan Kanuk (2000) adalah “Consumer behavior can be defined as the behavior that customer display in searching for, purchasing, using, evaluating, and disposing of products, services, and ideas they expect will satisfy they needs”. Pengertian tersebut berarti perilaku yang diperhatikan konsumen dalam mencari,membeli, menggunakan, mengevaluasi dan mengabaikan produk, jasa, atau ide yang diharapkan dapat memuaskan konsumen untuk dapat memuaskan kebutuhannya dengan mengkonsumsi produk atau jasa yang ditawarkan.
Selain itu perilku konsumen menurut Loudon dan Della Bitta (1993) adalah: “Consumer behavior may be defined as the decision process and physical activity individuals engage in when evaluating, acquiring, using, or disposing of goods and services”. Dapat dijelaskan perilaku konsumen adalah proses pengambilan keputusan dan kegiatan fisik individu-individu yang semuanya ini melibatkan individu dalam menilai, mendapatkan, menggunakan, atau mengabaikan barang-barang dan jasa-jasa.
Menurut Ebert dan Griffin (1995) consumer behavior dijelaskan sebagai: “the various facets of the decision of the decision process by which customers come to purchase and consume a product”. Dapat dijelaskan sebagai upaya konsumen untuk membuat keputusan tentang suatu produk yang dibeli dan dikonsumsi.
